The Sowie Mountains are a picturesque range in the Central Sudetes, located about 20 km southeast of Wałbrzych in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. Its highest peak is Wielka Sowa (1015 m above sea level), offering beautiful views. The region is famous for the mysterious Riese Complex – underground adits in Walim that attract history enthusiasts. Nearby, you can also find the impressive Srebrna Góra Fortress, the largest mountain fortress in Europe, and the castle in Zagórze Śląskie. Hikers and cyclists will enjoy a dense network of trails, observation towers, and mountain hostels such as Orzeł, Sowa, and Zygmuntówka. The area is protected as the Sowie Mountains Landscape Park.
