Kłodzko Fortress is an impressive fortification located on Fortress Hill (369 m above sea level) in Kłodzko, covering over 30 hectares. Its history dates back to the 10th century, when a wooden stronghold was built here, rebuilt a hundred years later into a brick castle. The structure underwent numerous modifications over the centuries, and since 1960 it has been open to visitors. Tourists can explore the underground labyrinth of corridors as well as the upper part of the fortress with viewing terraces offering a panorama of Kłodzko and the Kłodzko Valley. It is an excellent place for history enthusiasts, fans of defensive architecture, and those seeking beautiful views. The fortress is accessible to everyone – families, organized groups, and school trips. Nearby attractions include the Old Town of Kłodzko, the Underground Tourist Route, and the Museum of the Kłodzko Land. Access is convenient thanks to the proximity of National Road No. 8 and the Kłodzko Miasto railway station, from which one can walk. The site offers guided tours, and toilets are available on site. Parking is paid, and public transport operates nearby. The fortress is open seasonally – from April to October from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and from November to March from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
