Underground Tourist Route – Kłodzko

The Underground Tourist Route in Kłodzko is a fascinating journey into the city's history. The route leads through medieval corridors and tunnels that served as storage chambers from the 13th to the 17th century. The chambers, reaching depths of up to 30 meters, kept food fresh thanks to low temperatures, earning fame along the Amber Route. The cellars also aged the famous Kłodzko beer, and during wars the underground served as shelters. Stretching about 600 meters, the route is one of the most interesting in Poland. During the tour, visitors can hear sounds of the old city – market bustle, burgher music, or feasting in a tavern, as well as battle noises. Along the way, there are animated rats reacting to movement, life-size mannequins in period costumes, and exhibits depicting the lives of former residents and how they used their cellars. Stylized boards also illustrate historical forms of punishment from the 16th and 18th centuries. This attraction suits everyone – families, school groups, and individual tourists. It is located in the center of Kłodzko on Czeska Street, just a few minutes' walk from the train and bus stations. Open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
