End of the World

End of the World is a historic site in Jelenia Góra, located along the Bóbr River, on Bolesław III Krzywousty Avenue. The road was formerly known as Weldendeweg, meaning the Road to the End of the World. In this area, on a riverside meadow, lie the ruins of a 19th-century paper mill and remnants of the Bobrowice III hydroelectric power plant. The factory, founded in 1873 by Leopold Schoeller, produced cardboard and paper, and at its peak employed 350 workers. In 1945, the buildings were blown up by German troops. Today, the site is a tourist attraction where visitors can see picturesque ruins, a railway viaduct nearly 40 meters high, and a spring called the Miraculous Spring, once believed to reveal lies. It is an ideal spot for walks for families, school groups, and anyone interested in history and nature.
