Kórnik Castle

Kórnik Castle is one of the few Polish monuments that survived World War II without damage. Its history dates back to the first half of the 15th century, and its current appearance is the result of a reconstruction carried out in the mid-19th century by Tytus Działyński. The interiors have retained their original furnishings, allowing visitors to feel the atmosphere of a former magnate residence. The castle is surrounded by an arboretum managed by the Institute of Dendrology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, famous for its over 170-year-old magnolias that bloom in spring. The castle complex also includes outbuildings, a former stable, and a coach house where you can admire London carriages purchased in Paris in the mid-19th century. The castle is associated with the legend of the White Lady – Teofila z Działyńskich Szołdrska-Potulicka, known for her innovative management of estates. Today, a female resident of the commune is chosen each year to portray this figure during official ceremonies. This place will delight history enthusiasts as well as families with children, offering guided tours and walks in the picturesque park.
