Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój

The Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój is housed in a historic wooden mill from 1605, a unique technical monument. Its Baroque facade, shingle roof, and preserved polychrome paintings on the first floor testify to its former splendor. In 2011, the President of Poland granted it the status of a Historic Monument, and efforts are underway to include it on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The museum traces the history of paper from antiquity to modern times, including banknote production. Exhibits feature old machines, watermarks, and curiosities such as the role of sheep hooves in papermaking. In the basement, papermaking workshops are held for groups and individual visitors – an attraction for both children and adults. Every year on the last weekend of July, the Paper Festival takes place with numerous demonstrations. A visit typically lasts 1–3 hours. The museum is located at ul.
