The Museum of Remembrance of the Inhabitants of the Oświęcim Land is a modern cultural institution in Oświęcim, housed in the historic Lagerhaus building, about 200 meters from the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. Opened to visitors in 2022, it commemorates local residents who risked their lives to help prisoners of KL Auschwitz. The permanent exhibition, divided into three zones, combines minimalist aesthetics with multimedia testimonies of witnesses. In the first zone, visitors can see a sculpture by Igor Mitoraj and a film on a spherical screen showing the pre-war beauty of the Oświęcim region. The second zone, designed as a labyrinth, leads through a steam screen to spaces dedicated to wartime everyday life. The third, in the attic, symbolizes shelter and tells of post-war repressions against local heroes. Among the artifacts are mementos of Helena Płotnicka and equipment from Maria Bobrzecka's pharmacy. For children, there is an outdoor "Superheroes' Path" with seven educational zones. The museum conducts educational and scientific activities, cooperating with residents who donate family keepsakes. The facility is fully accessible to people with disabilities, offers audio guides and parking. Open Tuesday through Sunday; from May to September 10:00–18:00, and from October to April 10:00–16:00. On Tuesdays, admission for individual visitors is free.
