Paper Mill
The Paper Mill in Duszniki-Zdrój is a historic paper mill housing the Museum of Papermaking. Located on the main road entering the town from Kłodzko, it serves as a picturesque landmark. The mill's history dates back to 1562, when Nicolaus Kretschmer from Saxony purchased shares in the paper mill. The paper produced here, marked with a watermark of Saint Peter with keys, was renowned in Silesia for its high quality. It was made from linen rags and glue from bones and sheep skins, making it extremely durable. In 1968, a museum was opened in the historic building, and three years later, handmade paper production was resumed. Visitors can explore the history of papermaking, from the Chinese invention to modern applications, as well as temporary exhibitions, including displays of Polish paper money and paper art. The main attraction is the workshops, where everyone can make their own sheet of paper using the medieval method. This is an ideal place for families, children, and school trips, offering also a gift shop.
