Lidzbark Warmiński is a charming town of sixteen thousand inhabitants, situated at the confluence of the Łyna and Symsarna rivers, often called the Polish Venice due to its numerous bridges and footbridges. It is a great place for a family trip, combining history with outdoor relaxation. The main attraction is the Gothic Castle of the Warmian Bishops, known as the Wawel of the North, where Ignacy Krasicki lived for 30 years and which was also visited by Nicolaus Copernicus. Today it houses the Museum of Warmia with rich collections. It is also worth seeing the Collegiate Church of St. Peter and Paul, the High Gate, and the Summer Palace – orangery. Along the Łyna River stretches a revitalized boulevard with cycling and walking paths, an outdoor gym, and a playground. The second river, Symsarna, is surrounded by a park, and the area has been granted the status of a health resort protection zone. The town is a member of the Cittaslow network, which encourages a leisurely pace of sightseeing. For families with children, the Warmian Baths – a complex of pools open all year round – are also a great attraction. Near the castle, in the Foregate, stands the Krasicki Hotel with a cozy library and café. Lidzbark Warmiński is an excellent base for exploring the trail of Nicolaus Copernicus – to Olsztyn and Frombork.
