Bear Cave in Kletno

The Bear Cave in Kletno is the longest and one of the most beautiful caves in the Sudetes, located in the Śnieżnik Massif, on the right slope of the Kleśnica Valley, near Stronie Śląskie. The site lies within a nature reserve established in 1977, protecting its unique microclimate and speleothems. Guided tours last about 40-45 minutes and cover a 360-meter illuminated route, accessible to visitors with disabilities. The underground temperature remains around 6°C year-round with nearly 100% humidity, so warm clothing is recommended. The cave is famous for its rich calcite formations, including stalactites, stalagmites, stalagnates, draperies, and cave pearls. Its name comes from the remains of a cave bear, and a cave lion skull found in the sediment is one of only three such well-preserved discoveries worldwide. In winter, up to 1,500 bats hibernate here. Tickets must be booked in advance online, and visitors can park at the paid lot near the Museum of the Earth, followed by a 20-30 minute walk or a shuttle minibus ride to the entrance. A playground for children is located near the entrance pavilion, and the tour includes a multimedia show set to Metallica's music.
