Kampinos Forest is a unique forest complex located right on the outskirts of Warsaw, in the town of Izabelin. It is one of the most interesting forests in Poland, combining rich nature with tragic history. Within the Kampinos National Park, established in 1959, you will find the best-preserved inland dunes in Europe and marshes that are home to moose. Half of Poland's native fauna species can be found here, including many rare insects. Visitors can enjoy numerous hiking and biking trails, as well as a viewing platform near the park museum. A visit to the Palmiry cemetery-mausoleum, commemorating World War II victims, is also recommended. The forest is open year-round, admission is free, and parking is available near the museum.
