Park Dolny in Szczawnica

Park Dolny in Szczawnica is a historic spa park located in the heart of the town, at the foot of Mount Bryjarka. It was established between 1861 and 1868, and its origins are linked to the development of Szczawnica as a health resort. In 2012, a thorough renovation restored its 19th-century character. The park delights in every season – with blooming flowers in spring, lush greenery in summer, golden leaves in autumn, and a peaceful snowy landscape in winter. In the evening, numerous lamps create a magical atmosphere, perfect for romantic strolls. The park is home to many rare tree species, including natural monuments such as a Weymouth pine and a group of century-old broad-leaved lindens. Visitors can spot woodpeckers, squirrels, and bats. The park is divided into zones: a quiet area with a music pavilion, a picturesque pond with fish, a botanical garden, and a playground with a carousel and mini-golf for children. Other attractions include the Wanda spring with mineral water, the historic Chapel of Our Lady of Częstochowa, water cascades, and an artificial grotto with a plaque commemorating Mikołaj Zyblikiewicz. There are also sculptures by Maria Chuboda-Wiśniewska and a monument dedicated to the residents of Szczawnica who fell for their homeland. Around the park, historic buildings have been preserved, including the Villa Maria from 1876. The park is free and open all year round, making it an ideal place for walks for families, couples, and seniors.
