Nymphenburg Palace and Park is a former summer residence of the Bavarian rulers, located a few kilometers west of Munich's old town. Construction began in the second half of the 17th century, and after a major renovation in the early 18th century, the complex became the main seat of the Wittelsbach dynasty from May to September. Today it is one of the most interesting palace complexes in Central Europe, consisting of the palace with royal apartments, the Carriage Museum and Porcelain Museum, a free park, and four park pavilions: Amalienburg, Badenburg, Pagodenburg, and Magdalenenklause. Inside the palace, visitors can admire richly decorated Rococo interiors, while the museums display collections of carriages and porcelain. The park is popular among locals for jogging and relaxation. Exploring all attractions takes at least three hours. The palace and museums are open seasonally, and the pavilions are accessible from April 1 to October 15. Children and teenagers up to 18 enter for free. The site is partially accessible for people with reduced mobility, and it is conveniently reached by tram number 17.
