Museum of Play and Toys in Kielce
The Museum of Play and Toys in Kielce is the largest and oldest toy museum in Poland, located in the capital of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. It is a place that will delight both children and adults who want to return to the land of childhood. The permanent exhibition takes visitors through the history of toys, starting with porcelain dolls from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. You can see pre-war toy soldiers, wooden blocks, hand-painted yo-yos, and beautiful dollhouses. Particularly impressive are the mascots sewn at the front from uniform fragments, which tell the story of war. The museum also has an impressive collection of board games, models, and a section dedicated to shadow theater. Adults will surely appreciate the room with letters sent by children during the PRL era to a television program about toys, as well as plastic toys from that period. The biggest attraction, however, is the room with wooden and folk toys that can be touched and tried out – from wooden woodpeckers on springs to simple paddle balls. It is a great place for family time, full of memories and joy from simple, ecological toys.
