Muzeum Emigracji w Gdyni

📍 Gdynia, PL

The Museum of Emigration in Gdynia is located in the historic modernist building of the Dworzec Morski (Maritime Station), from which thousands of Poles departed for new lives abroad. The exhibition chronologically presents the history of Polish emigration from the Middle Ages to the present day. It features stories of figures such as Roxolana, Helena Modjeska, and Fryderyk Chopin. Topics include the multicultural Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Great Emigration, economic migration from Galicia, wartime displacements, and escapes from communist Poland. A particularly moving section reconstructs a Galician family's journey to America. Interactive displays and audio guides enhance the experience. The museum is suitable for families, school groups, and anyone interested in migration history. A cafe is available on site. It is a valuable addition to any visit to Gdynia.
