The Horse Cemetery in Kliczków is a unique monument in Poland, hidden among old trees in the forest near Kliczków Castle. Established in 1881, it is the oldest horse cemetery in the country and one of the few in Europe. It once served as the final resting place for horses from the ducal stables, as well as dogs. Today, only three tombstones remain: two historic and one modern. The oldest commemorates a horse named Juno from 1938, which belonged to Prince Friedrich Hermann zu Solms-Baruth. Another, with an illegible inscription, likely marks the grave of a hunting dog – it bears bullet holes from Red Army soldiers who shot at it for fun. The third tombstone, placed in 2009, honors the mare Zacateca, a knight's horse of the castle. The cemetery is located within the 19th-century landscape park surrounding the castle, designed by Eduard Petzold. The park originally covered 80 hectares, now reduced to seven. This place appeals to history enthusiasts and families seeking unusual attractions. The easiest access is by car from Bolesławiec via road 350 towards Osiecznica, then heading towards the castle and following a forest path to the cemetery.
