Jaskinia Raj

Jaskinia Raj, located in Chęciny within the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, is one of Poland's most beautiful karst caves, protected as a nature reserve. It was discovered accidentally in 1963 during limestone quarrying and opened to visitors in 1972. The 180-meter-long illuminated trail showcases impressive speleothems including stalactites, stalagmites, stalagnates, draperies, cave pearls, and rare helictites. Evidence of Neanderthal presence dating back 40,000–60,000 years has been found – stone tools and remains of Pleistocene animals such as the woolly mammoth and cave bear. Visits are guided only, with limited capacity; advance booking via the official website is recommended. An on-site museum features a reconstruction of a Neanderthal camp. The cave is a key part of the Świętokrzyski Geopark, a UNESCO Global Geopark. Suitable for families, groups, and nature enthusiasts.
